Drones are increasingly being used for wedding photography, and for good reason. These versatile and innovative devices offer many benefits that can help to capture unique and stunning shots that traditional photography methods cannot. In this article, we will discuss the top benefits of using a drone for photography at a wedding.
A View From Above.
One of the most significant advantages of using a drone for wedding photography is the ability to capture stunning aerial views. Drones can fly high above the wedding venue, offering a unique perspective on the event that would be impossible to achieve using traditional photography methods. With a drone, you can capture panoramic shots of the wedding venue, the surrounding landscape, and the wedding party, creating a stunning and memorable record of the event.
Another benefit of using a drone for wedding photography is the increased creativity it provides. Drones can fly in a variety of directions, angles, and heights, allowing the photographer to capture shots that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional photography equipment. This increased creativity can result in unique and stunning photos that truly capture the spirit and essence of the wedding.
Using a drone for wedding photography can also improve efficiency. Drones can capture a large number of photos in a short period, and with the ability to review and delete photos on-site, photographers can quickly and easily identify and capture the best shots. This efficiency can be especially important during a wedding when time is often at a premium.
Drones are relatively quiet and unobtrusive, making them an ideal tool for capturing candid shots of the wedding party and guests without disrupting the event. Unlike traditional photography equipment, which can be bulky and intrusive, drones can capture photos from a distance, allowing the wedding party and guests to enjoy the event without feeling as though they are constantly being watched or photographed.
Drones are also incredibly flexible, allowing photographers to capture photos from a variety of angles and heights. With the ability to move quickly and easily, photographers can adjust the drone’s position to capture shots from unique and interesting angles, resulting in stunning photos that truly capture the essence of the wedding.

Are There Any Restrictions To Flying A Drone At A Wedding?
We operate a DJI Mini 2 for drone photography in Essex, which is under the weight threshold (less than 250g) for many prohibitive rules and regulations. We always fly safely, respecting an appropriate distance from civilians, as well as maintaining a visual line of sight to the drone.
We’re not able to fly in certain weather conditions, like rain or winds higher than around 15mph. We keep a close watch on the weather forecast for upcoming bookings, and will speak directly with clients where the weather does prevent us from flying – to either reschedule a suitable date or refund a deposit where postponing isn’t an option – such as wedding days.
